I found a piece of Brio track while cleaning my house that must have been lost by the previous owner and it inspired me to make some 3D models. I dug up my childhood toys at my parents’ house and went to town taking measurements and reference images. Like all my projects the rabbit hole kept getting deeper and deeper and soon I was buying old catalogs on ebay and hunting for more and more reference images. My own collection spans from the late 80s to the early 90s so I limited myself to making everything in the catalogs between 1985 and 1993 with an emphasis on the 1991 catalog and ignoring anything with too much plastic. I also recreated some of the layouts from those catalogs. I want to give a shoutout to John Mechalas and his Brio Wooden Railway Guide website as well as Jeroen Bensch’s Archive of Brio Products. These sites were instrumental in my research. I plan to get these items into Unreal engine in some way shape or form so you might see more Brio from me in the future but for now this is my love letter to Brio. Thank you for all the wonderful childhood memories!
